Myrkdalen is situated between the Sognefjord and the Hardangerfjord. There are many great day trips by car in our area!

Myrkdalen – Stalheim – Gudvangen– Flåm: 125 km return including Undredal
Visit a landscape unlike any other in the world!This is a short day trip where you have time to do the most of each stop.Drive to Stalheim where you can visit Stalheim Hotel, hike to Nåli and see the folk museum. Drive down the 13 hair pin bends in Stalheimskleiva, one of the steepest roads in Northern Europe. Explore the magical white caves of Gudvangen from June 1st to August 31st. Take a detour from Gudvangen to Bakka and drive along the Nærøyfjord. Or take another detour to the narrow valley of Undredal. In Flåm you can try Ægir beer at the local brewery, open every day May – August.

Myrkdalen – Ulvik – (Eidfjord): 118 km return
Drive to Ulvik, about an hour away from Myrkdalen and enjoy great views and the taste of Hardanger. Walk the cider route – the only one in Norway and try some local apple juice, apple cider and even apple brandy. If you would like a boat trip, join in on a Fjord cruise from Ulvik to Eidfjord! In Eidfjord you have about three hours to explore the village before the boat returns to Ulvik. Tip: Do not miss the beautiful blossom season in Hardanger in May! Myrkdalen – Jondal – Folgefonna Glacier: 232 km return
Folgefonna National Park is Norway’s third largest glacier located at the Folgefonna Pensinsula in Hardanger. Drive from Myrkdalen to Kvanndal, take the ferry to Utne and continue to Jondal. From the village you can drive up to the glacier – where you will find a summer ski centre! And if you are up for activities you can go on guided glacier tours with Folgefonni Glacier Team.

Myrkdalen – Vik – Balestrand: 136 km return
Less than an hour away from the hotel you will find the village of Vik. Visit Hopperstad stave church and Hove church, go for a walk by the fjord, and if you dare – try the Norwegian delicatessen “gamalost” at the local cheese bar. Continue your journey by car and ferry to the idyllic village of Balestrand.
